My interest in mentoring began at John Deere Consumer Products where I managed a small in-house Industrial Design group. As a graduate student attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I was fortunate to learn from some great faculty (and students) while leading graphic design classes. The interest continued after graduate school and into life as a graphic design professional. I taught typography as an Adjunct Professor in evenings, after my day job, at the The Kansas City Art Institute. I accepted a full-time appointment as an Assistant Professor at KCAI in the fall of 2007. KCAI is a private art and design college with approximately 90 dedicated students enrolled in the Graphic Design program. I lead degree courses in typography, identity, image and user-centered design in our program and enjoy helping young designers realize their professional goals. |
